·
I have worked for some
40 years on a wide range of new-build and refurbishment projects in major
architectural practices, including YRM, James Cubitt Fello Atkinson &
Partners, Covell Mathews; and Triad. Clients included public authorities, private
building owners and commercial developers, for sites both at home and overseas.
·
I was Editor of
various technical publications at the National Building Agency (NBA) in London.
These were primarily written for
architects and dealt with the application of Building Regulations and other
official technical guidance to the design of dwellings.
·
After the closure of
the NBA I joined Bickerdike Allen Partners as a Senior Architect
in the Construction Technology Group. I
became an Associate in May 1987. In my
present capacity, I investigate defects (often the subject of litigation or
arbitration) in buildings and suggest appropriate remedial measures.
·
I also give advice to
Architects, Contractors and Building Owners on a wide variety of general
construction technology issues, arising at all stages of the design and
construction process. I have acted for
loss adjusters and other legal advisors in the assessment of technical issues
arising out of storm damage and personal injury claims.
·
I am listed in the
Law Society Directory of Expert Witnesses and have given opinion on disputed
technical matters in litigations, prepared Expert Reports, attended Expert Meetings
and given evidence in arbitrations.
·
I have undertaken the
duties of Planning Supervisor and CDM co-ordinator in over 140 construction
projects in both new work and the refurbishment of historic buildings in
accordance with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 1994 &
2007.
Publications and other
activities include: ·
"Easiguides"
researched, written and prepared for publication at the NBA as a free
magazine 'insert' in collaboration with Building Design from 1979 to 81 (18
issues in two series).
